Work Placements
Many of our clients complete work placements with local companies. This gives them the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence in the work place and can often lead to offers of employment. Attendance on one of our training programmes helps to establish punctuality and reliability, qualities that employers always appreciate.
Recently Chris was offered employment with Blue Max in Trowbridge. Whilst he was with them on work placement they were impressed with his enthusiasm and hard work, and were happy to offer him a job. He also gained a Numeracy qualification whilst he was with us and was quite rightly very proud of his achievements.
Local Opportunities
James and Ray both completed successful warehouse placements with two local companies, C&P Medical supplies and Melksham Motor spares. As well as gaining a fork lift truck licence, both were offered full time work. Adrian and Wayne both completed placements at LMC Hadrian in Westbury and are both still employed there.
Application & Interview SKills
Many clients appreciate the job search support we can offer, and feel much more motivated and confident about applying for jobs with a professional CV, help with application forms and letters, and advice on interview skills. Recently Paul has started work in Tesco in Trowbridge, Claire has a job in Safeway in Devizes and Martin is working at Valldata in Melksham.
Making an Impression
Paul completed a successful work placement at Argos in Trowbridge. At the end of his placement there were no job opportunities, although a few weeks later, Argos were looking for a worker in their stockroom and contacted him again to offer him a short term contract.
Admin & IT Skills
Many of our clients are keen to update their Admin and IT skills, and a work placement provides an ideal environment in which to learn. Vicky, Tina, Philippa Julie, Kerry and Nicky have all been offered Admin work with local companies, and Philip, through his own hard work and determination, has successfully completed an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Customer Service whilst on a placement with the Tourist Information Office in Trowbridge. This will undoubtedly help him with his search for work.
